Electrical Engineer

About the role

As a founding Electrical Engineer, you'll design the electrical system that keeps the vehicle alive in two very different environments. The same electronics have to power six rotors in the air and an underwater thruster below the surface, all while staying sealed and dry. You'll take ownership of power, motor control, sensor integration and custom boards, and you'll see your designs go from schematic to a vehicle in the water. We're still in design and actively prototyping.

What you'll work on

• Power system design, battery integration and the BMS (Battery Management System)
• Motor control for six rotors and an underwater thruster, including ESCs (electronic speed controllers)
• Custom PCB (printed circuit board) design, layout and bring-up
• Integrating the flight controller, GPS (Global Positioning System), depth sensor and sonar
• Waterproof connectors and penetrators for a sealed electronics bay
• Wiring harnesses, power distribution, testing and troubleshooting

What we're looking for

• Solid circuits fundamentals
• Hands-on skills: soldering, multimeter, oscilloscope
• Interest in power electronics, drones or embedded systems
• Careful, safety-minded approach to high-current battery systems

Nice to have

• KiCad or Altium PCB design experience
• Power electronics or motor control experience
• RF (radio frequency) or telemetry experience
• Embedded firmware experience

Compensation

This is an equity-only role. There is no salary or hourly pay. As a founding team member you'll receive equity in Liminal Stratum, so you share directly in what we build together.

Location

Location: Boulder, Colorado. This role is in person. We build and test hardware together, so you must be local to Boulder. We are not considering remote applicants.
